Well, the first part of October we were able to move into our new Temple owned apartment. When we were finding ourselves homeless, we negotiated with the Temple President here in Copenhagen to rent his apartments they had been trying to sell for over a year. We moved in and a week later, our new CES couple moved in next door. It is a beautiful apartment with a great view. It is a fish bowl but we enjoying waiving to the people and when we are tired of that we close our blinds.
Take a look at our fun place, right in downtown Copenhagen just off the 4th lake. Tell us what you think.
Yes, the sun is shinning.
Hello, come on in.

On Friday, October 12 it is Culture Night in Copehagen. So we started out from our apartment and walked the streets of Copenhagen. There were a lot of museums opened for free if you bought a bage. Music on the "Walking Street" etc. So we started our adventure out and ended up at Tivoli for their fall celebration. See what happed below.
More pictures from Tivoli.
The school children are out so they get to participate.
Look at those interesting pumpkins.

Well, today I decided to see how the Danish Health Care system worked. I have been suffering from an internal infection for months and last night it got me. I went down with chills and aches. In the morning, we decided to call Dr. Gardner in Germany and he suggested we go to an instant care. So off to the instant care. After 2 hour wait in a dirty waiting room, where I wanted to lay down on the floor before I fainted, we finally got in to see the Dr. I had to go through about 20 people waiting in the outer office to the toilet to get a urine specimen. It was embarrassing, but I didn’t care. The Doctor told us that we shouldn’t have come to the clinic and called an ambulance to get me. Dad said he had a car but the Dr didn’t want me fainting in the car. So off to the hospital I went without the serine. When I got there they took me in the stretcher to the examining room. There the nurse checked me in and a Dr from Russia came shortly and did an ultra sound. They wanted to rule out kidney stones. Which they did and said that I had a high temperature and a real bad infection and that I would have to stay in the hospital for two or three days, until my temperature went down.
Not looking too good.
Bente, my Danish room mate.
They were a little concerned about my cough and took x-rays. Haven’t heard back on that. But I continue to cough, of course. I told them this wasn't new, I always coughed. I kept taking my adrenal gland pills and they helped me control the violent attacks.
The Danish lady next to me is really nice and speaks a little English and I understand a little Danish. So we are getting along. I think she has the TV on with ear phones so she doesn’t hear me cough. I can’t go to sleep, because she has the TV light on, so I thought I would write. Can’t find an Internet connection but maybe tomorrow. I sure would like to talk to someone. The Elders have called twice and I have to go to the desk to talk. I don’t think they realize that. I am just really hot now. Hope my fever breaks tonight and homeward bound I go. I would just love to hang out in my apartment.

This is my third day in the hospital. They have been very nice to me but it has been a little hard, as I didn’t know how to turn the TV on, use the phone or know which soap to wash my body with until Benjamin Anderson came by. Before that I really didn’t care.
Well, now I am home. my fever broke. I went in with 38 and it got up to 40. Now it is 37 something. Don't know how that compares to 98.6 but they said I was real sick. The Doctor said that I could come home and do what I was doing there at home. That was resting and taking my medicine. So Dad broke away from the office and came and got me and brought me home. I have already had Sister Magstatt and Sister Kelley come to visit. Tina Paulsen, from the Ward was going to stop by but hasn’t. I have to go down and unlock the gate to the stairs or elevator as they can’t get in. (Unless they are like Elder Tillotson and can climb up the side as he has done twice.)But I do have a cell phone people can call if it is working.
So we don’t know the verdict yet, but I am taking high power antibiotics that should cure my pneumonia and kidney infection or anything else I might have.
It sure is nice to be home to my beautiful apartment with my fantastic view and to listen to the bird’s quacks and the waterfall.
Thanks all for trying to call me. I told the nurse that I had to go home so that I could talk to my kids on the internet. So they let me go home and now all my kids called me at the hospital. They probably are wondering why I went home, because I could have stayed and talked there. But it is great to be home. Just sent the last of our visitors, Ben and Rebecca Anderson home. Rebecca brought me more stuff from home. Good night. Oh by the way, I did send the Danish lady home with a Danish Ensign and she would like to have the missionaries come by. I also gave out passalong cards to everone. There must have been a reason I was there. At lease I was going to make it a reason if I could. You just can't go to the hospital just to get better can you.

This has been an eventfull week I must say. The Clarks came and after they meet with the Hoges, the outgoing CES missionaries, we picked them up and took them shopping for their bedding. We had gone to the Loppy market in the morning and found some chairs for their apartment. We had helped Hoges move out of the apartment that is by the office. Well, after lunch at Ikea and shopping at Yusk we started home. Oh by the way, the Clarks could not get any money out of their banks to buy anything. Our money was low because we had taken out a lot for beds and things for the mission. We were able to put the So we made it through the weekend for food. Of course, the stores close by 5 pm on Sat so you have to plan ahead.
When we got close to Borups Ale, the street the office is on and the Clarks apartment, it was blocked off. We asked the policy if we could go through to get to our office and they told us the police were fighting with the youth who were demonstrating. The youth had a building they had taken over by squatters rights which the government demolished because it belonged to someone. Ever since they have these demonstrations which most of the time are peaceful. They do graffiti along the way and leave a lot of papers and garbage.. Well here we were trying to get the Clarks back to their place and us home to listen to conference.
We called the AP to see if they were home. Well, they were in the office watching the demo. They could feel the tear gas coming in the widows. It was right out in front of our office. There were about 1,000 young people in black with their chains hanging off their clothes and funny hair etc. A little scary. So the missionaries were locked in the office so they just stayed there and listened to conference. We dropped off the Clark at the stake house and then fought the traffic to our home to listen to conference in the beauty of our apartment without any interference. This was something we really need. Just to be alone and have some downtime feasting on the words of the prophets.
We looked for information about what went on with the youth but didn’t hear anything. It was in the paper but we don’t read the paper besides it is in Danish and we don’t really understand. We heard the young people were trying to buy a home or place for them to meet but the government hadn’t given it to them yet. They were trying to get it by squatters rights again. Will they ever learn? There is an area in Copenhagen where in the 70’s the hippis took over and tourist can come in and look at it but it is very dangerous. One of our missionaries got in a park close by not realizing where they were and someone came up to them and told them to leave or they would be killed. The police can’t do anything in that area and I think that is why they are trying to stop these youth from controlling another area. The only thing that has gone on is they have burned a car and garbage cans.
There was an arrest last month for some Alcida men who were planning on using the demonstrations of the youth to blow up something. They were caught, thank heavens. But it makes you wonder where the others are. There are a lot of muslims around. In fact the sister use to live in Norroebro about 10 blocks from the office, right in the middle of the muslim area and close to the old house the youth had.
But, things seem to be ok.
Now we are driving to Jylland for zone conference. We left at 5:30 to be there by 9am. We have gone across the big bridge which costs $40 each way. Sometimes we go over the day before, especially when it is on a weekend. But as you can see, we were too busy.
Listening to Elder Eyring, I think I will think I will make a list of how the Lord has helped me this week.

Well, it has been awhile. So many things are happening. We finally made our move to our new apartment on the lake. It is beautiful and the water fountains sound so soothing. It took us a week to move all our stuff and to coordinate with everyone to acquire all our furniture. We found some on Craiglist.com clear over here in Denmark.
Well, we don't have a land phone, just a cell phone. And the cell phone we were using we gave to the President because it had a blue tooth. Well we got a new one and it fell off my skirt the other day. But we are borrowing one and when we came home on Wed. night the battery was dead. That was ok because we didn't want to be bothered. We had had a hard day. So we went to bed about 9:30 since we only had candle light in the front room anywat. Well, we heard a banging on the window. I jumped up and looked out the front window and couldn't see any one. We have a locked gate at the bottom of the stairs and no phone so people can't ring us.
After I climbed back in bed I thought, What about the back door off of the lake? How could anyone be there? Well, they were. It was Elder Turner and Tillotson. The President wanted them to trade us the van so they could pick up a new CES couple coming in the am. So we traded keys and waited for them to come back.
Elder Peterson was watching out the front door and there comes Elder Tillotson climing up the outside of the staircase. We live on the 2nd floor. He asekd him what he was doing and he told him, "Just bringing you the keys". Elder Peterson told him he had the key in his hand that opened the door. He just climbed back down, very easily I would say. It sure gave us a good feeling to know that we were very safe. Not. Anyone could or at least Elder Tillotson could break in any time.
So we settle back in bed and then thoughts keep coming through our mind. Then we realized that he didn't leave us the key to the other car. Well, I thought that we would just call them in the am on Skype and they would bring us a key. Well, in the am, I went to my computer and found out that it was dead and my power cord was at the office. So here we were, stranded in the middle of Copenhagen, in our beautiful apartment without any connection to the outer world.
About 9:15, we decided we better figure out the bus schedule to get to work. Then a knock came at the door. It was Elder Tillotson, who had climbed up the balcony again to give us the key. So off to work we went. Around 10:30 we get a call from the Assistants that they can't find Elder and Sister Clark. They wanted me to check their flight schedule again. I did and would you believe, we all read it wrong. There the President and his Assistant were at the airport for an hour waiting for the Clark to come in and they don't come until Friday. What a trail run.
I will send pictures later.

I guess it is time to move on and start another blog. I have been sick and not really with it. So . . . something will be coming.
Here We Come

Look who's here to welcome us home.
We were all excited to see each other.

Welcome
A welcome sign, our grandchildren, what else do we need to welcome us home.
Denmark in Utah
I brought a little of Denmark home with me to share with all my grandchildren. Everyone gets a ride who wants one.
Goodbye to Denmark
Good bye
Goodbye to The Andersons
Brother Anderson and his family took such good care of us at the office.
Goodbye to The Wainscotts
Andrea and Brian adopted us as their parents for our stay in Denmark. We are going to miss them.
